Sarah (She/Her) grew up in Southern Maine and returned to her home state in 2008 along with her husband Kreg. She is the co-founder of the 54 Herrick Wellness Collective in Southwest Harbor and has been in private practice as an acupuncturist since 2009, specializing in women’s and maternal health. Prior to returning to Maine Sarah was the Program Coordinator for Acupuncturists Without Borders and has a special interest in the intersection of public health, social justice and the building of strong and resilient communities. She currently resides in Seal Cove with her artist husband, two sons and small flock of chickens.
My husband and sons began volunteering at Open Table MDI in the very beginning and as a family we all fell in love its food, its mission and with the vibrant community that has built up around the weekly meal. Because I am not able to attend the meals often due to my work schedule serving on the Board is my way of being able to contribute something to this important part of life on Mount Desert Island. I am a believer in delicious food for all, in the deep value of a shared meal and in the power of small acts of kindness to change the world. Open Table MDI holds all three of these in a beautiful way and I am so happy to be part of the Board.
