Kristin Proppé (She/Her) is the most recent addition to the Open Table MDI team as our MDI Food Access Project Coordinator. She comes to this organization with a background working directly with food on various farms in Ohio and Maine and as a community-based educator. With a huge passion for healthy, local foods and just, sustainable food systems, Kristin plans to utilize her experience to continue the work of expanding food access services on MDI. When not working, you can find Kristin in the kitchen fermenting vegetables from her garden or tackling sewing projects with a cup of tea in hand.
Growing up in a family very passionate about cooking together and sharing meals opened my eyes at a young age to the connection between food and community. The act of sharing food means much more than just nourishment – it allows people to come together in an inclusive space to utilize food as a vehicle to express creativity, form social connections, and openly communicate. The greater sense of connection and belonging that food has created for me is the reason why I enthusiastically continue to make it such an integral part of my life.
